Consul General Aileen Mendiola-Rau addresses the second batch of Filipino youth during the graduation ceremonies

13 May 2019, Paris – Thirteen girls and eleven boys from Filipino migrant families in Paris completed the second edition of the Embassy-organized Philippine culture classes entitled, “Ang Aking Pilipinas”. Philippine Embassy in Paris’ Consul General and Minister Aileen Mendiola-Rau awarded the certificates to the preteen and teenage participants at a brief ceremony held yesterday at the venue of their classes in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

Building on the successful pilot class completed last June, the Embassy soon after decided to continue the program with the second run in November 2018. The six session Sunday classes, held mostly at monthly intervals, followed the same format of the first one with teacher Rosemarie Chazelas immersing the students into the Filipino way of life and Philippine history through a mix of creative activities including songs, dances, light physical activities and also food tasting.

Paaralan sa Embahada: Philippine history and culture classes for 6- to 8-year-olds

The next version of the classes scheduled for this coming June 2019, entitled “Paaralan sa Embahada”, is being organized for girls and boys from Filipino migrant families, aged 6-8, and will be held at the Philippine Embassy.
