22 September 2013, Paris, France. The Philippine Embassy in Paris reports that it participated in the annual Peñafrancia Fluvial Parade Festival held in a special ferry boat along the river Seine. On behalf of her Excellency, Ambassador Cristina G. Ortega, Third Secretary and Vice Consul André Peter C. Estanislao and Mr. Frankson G. Ong, Cultural Officer, attended the event.

Organized by the Peñafrancia Association France Chapter headed by its President, Ms. Annie Angot, the fluvial parade and festival began with a special mass in honor of Our Lady of Peñafrancia officiated by Filipino Priest, Fr. Lyndon Balubar. In his homily, Fr. Balubar urged all Filipinos to be united in faith and love for one another especially outside the Philippines. After the mass, Vice Consul Estanislao read Ambassador Ortega’s message that commended the fervor and strength of the Bicolanos’ devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia and also said that this annual festival is testament to the commitment of Filipinos living in France in sharing Philippine culture with the rest of the world. The organizers then played an audio message from the Most Reverend Rolando Tria Tirona, O.C.D., Archbishop of Caceres.

After the short program, Filipino community members shared their talent with the guests through singing and dancing. A special dinner was also served which included traditional Bicolano food such as laing and Bicol express.
