The Bureau of Immigration (BI) recently launched the Long-stay Visitor Visa Extension (LSVVE) scheme to encourage tourist arrivals in the Philippines. With the LSVVE, foreign nationals already in the Philippines, including French nationals, may now enjoy longer visa extensions of up to six (6) months under a single transaction.

Before the launch of this scheme, BI issued a maximum stay of two (2) months each time a foreign national applied for a visa extension. With the new scheme, foreign nationals who wish to extend their stay may now do so without going to BI several times to process their documents. Conversion to other visa categories is also allowed.

The initial implementation of the scheme will be limited to the BI Main Office in Intramuros, Manila.
