Fire Chief Christophe Musial conducted the orientation seminar on fire safety and security. He led the team of six fire fighters from the Centre d’Incendie et de Secours de Paris Auteuil (Center for Fire and Emergency Service Paris – Auteuil) who discussed the basics of fire safety at work and at home. They responded to  a range of questions posed by Embassy personnel,  from the proper use of heaters at home, first aid for burns, prevention of fire-related accidents, and more. For everyone’s reference, Fire Chief Musial  gave Embassy officials a list of important French laws and regulations pertaining to fire safety.

The fire fighters also demonstrated to Embassy personnel the features of a state-of-the-art fire truck currently in use Paris. The fire truck which has a digital and all automatic control system is not only capable of putting out fires, but also serves as an ambulance that is equipped with life saving equipment.

In her remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Deena Joy D. Amatong  expressed appreciation for the Center’s cooperation and the fire fighters’ willingness to share their knowledge on such an important safety concern.  She noted that it is very important for all Filipinos, especially those who are living abroad, to be well-informed of the ways to prevent fire,  the important steps to take in case of fire incidents, as well as the various public services available in case of emergency.

Fire Chief Musial expressed gratitude for the Embassy’s initiative to invite the Center and to organize a seminar of this kind. He likewise said that this was the first fire safety seminar that they have ever conducted in a diplomatic mission in Paris.
