The Philippine Embassy in Paris welcomed 28 Travel and Tourism Management students from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on 10 March 2014.

The visit to the Embassy is part of the school’s annual trip to France, which is the most popular country for tourists in the world.  

In her opening remarks, Minister Counsellor andChargé d’affaires, a.i.Deena Joy Amatong shared how the Philippine Embassy, in coordination with the Department of Tourism (DOT), word to reach the DOT’s target of 10 million tourists by 2016.

“France is an important market for the Philippines. In 2013, over 39,000 French tourists visited the country, representing an almost 16% increase compared to 2012. This makes France one of the fastest-growing markets for the Philippines,” Ms. Amatong said.

Ms. Amatong encouraged the students to explore and to experience the Philippines in order to be effective goodwill ambassadors of the country. She also encouraged the students to take the Foreign Service Officers exam.

Since the beginning of its partnership with Vatel International Hospitality School Paris in 2009, the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde has been holding regular study tours to France and other European countries.
