29 April 2019, Paris – Representatives of France Volontaire, one of the long-standing and well-established international volunteer corps of France, had paid a courtesy visit on 25 April 2019 to H.E. Maria Theresa P. Lazaro, Philippine Ambassador in France, to provide updates on their current work in the Philippines and to introduce the first set of Filipinos that will be doing volunteer work in France.
Volunteers Vhiktoria Siva and Richie Lumawag have been in France since the latter part of 2018 and will be staying until July to assist in the teaching of English to high school students in Brittany.
Thomas Cosse, Director of France Volontaire’s International Network, had shared that one of the important features of their organization is that it promotes an exchange process wherein France and the partner country benefit from the assistance of volunteers hailing from both countries. Another important feature of the group is that it collaborates with both the government and civil society organizations on various areas of volunteer work such as on education, support for street children, sustainability and other important subjects.
France Volontaire has offices across the world called “Espace Volontariats”, including in the Philippines where it has been able to mobilize 300 volunteers in the country at present. For more information, visit the Embassy’s website and Facebook page. END.
